Oil on canvas 120 x 180 cm
Available gicley print $850
A conversation with Gordon Wright in the early morning light of Cue, Western Australia, led to this painting, which was runner-up for the Australian Portraiture Prize that year (1979). Offered AU $20,000 for it in 1981, I chose instead to gift it to my infant daughter Tara, for she will grow to appreciate and understand its meaning more than any other. Unfortunately, the painting was stolen from my Bunbury WA gallery in 1985 and is still “walkabout” as of 2011. However, I hope my recent reissue of the print edition may lead to its return home after more than 30 years.
