Following the Crowd
Pastels 25 x 25 cm
While at the 2008 PANZ pastel Convention I attended a workshop of Tony Allain where we did an exercise on people in a crowd. Having my Rush Hour painting of people moving towards you on exhibit there, this time I considered myself in amongst the crowd behind and following them as the viewer. With that thought I’d see what comes of it.
This drawing is a study that has opened a new window. I’m at least inspired by Tony, with gratitude, to draw simple sketches of crowds and see what direction they’ll take me. The previous night Lethea and I were at the WOMAD concert, subconsciously these are the people we followed out of the show feeling on a high from the Worldly music.
